Chris Fritz
Principal & CEO
Chris Fritz specializes in Litigation support and expert witness services, hospital-physician contracting, valuation, strategic and business planning, as well as performance improvement for hospitals and medical groups. Before joining HealthWorks in 2009, he held senior management positions over a period of 18 years within a Southern California health care system, including 8 years as the Chief Financial Officer for a hospital with an integrated 400 physician medical group practice and a limited Knox Keene licensed health plan. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from California State University San Marcos.
Michael S. Heil
Principal
Michael S. Heil specializes in hospital-physician contracting, valuation, strategic and business planning, as well as planning and performance improvement for trauma centers, ICUs, and emergency services. In addition, he offers litigation support and expert witness services. Michael held senior management positions in hospitals on the East and West coasts for over 19 years, before founding HealthWorks in 1992.
James Werner
Principal & CFO
James Werner specializes in Business Valuation and valuation of hospital-physician service agreements. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) with more than 20 years of experience in business accounting. His professional designations include CPA, CVA, ABAR, MAFF, CHBC, CMEA. James earned a Bachelor's of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland in 1992.
Elaine Hayes
DIRECTOR
Elaine Hayes specializes in litigation support services and expert witness testimony. Prior to joining HealthWorks, she held senior management positions with health plans and hospitals for more than 30 years. In these roles, she was actively involved in negotiating and analyzing the impact of managed care contracts. Elaine oversaw both finance and revenue cycle operations for large health systems in Kentucky. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and worked as a healthcare consultant and auditor with Ernst and Young for 6 years. Elaine holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Accounting from Western Kentucky University.
Nick Vetter
DIRECTOR
Nick Vetter specializes in litigation support, business planning with an emphasis in trauma, and valuation with an emphasis in physician compensation. He has more than 15 years of healthcare consulting experience, most recently as a director at Huron Consulting (previously Stockamp and Associates), a national consulting firm specializing in revenue cycle, operations, and patient flow solutions for health systems and medical groups. Mr. Vetter holds a Bachelor's of Arts in Economics from Northwestern University and a Master's of Business Administration from University of California Berkeley Haas School of Business.
Mark Carter
Testifying Expert
Mark Carter, CPA, provides both testifying expert and consulting expert services for HealthWorks. Mark has more than 40 years of progressive leadership in the health care industry, including being appointed by the governor of Kentucky as an executive advisor leading the state’s COVID-19 contact tracing program. Mark was CEO of Passport Health Plan in Louisville, a Medicaid managed care health plan with more than 310,000 covered lives. His previous positions include senior vice president and CFO of Jewish Hospital, partner at BKD (the nation’s seventh-largest accounting and advisory firm), and partner at Ernst & Young.
Mike Brogley
Specializes in LITIGATION SUPPORT Analysis AND TECHNOLOGY
Mike Brogley specializes in deep dive healthcare data analyses in support of litigation engagements, converting complex multivariate data into persuasive yet simple expert witness technical content. Mike brings more than 30 years full spectrum technical and management experience across Silicon Valley high tech, from startups to fortune 1000, to bear to rapidly and expertly reduce massive adversarial datasets into clear understandable results.
Mike holds a Bachelor's of Science in Aeronautics with a minor in Cybernetics Systems from San Jose State University.
Kendra Fox
SPECIALIZES IN Litigation Support and Healthcare Claims Analytics
Kendra Fox provides consulting expert services, with a focus on claims analytics, for HealthWorks. Kendra is an accomplished health care actuary and finance leader with more than 25 years of experience. Before joining HealthWorks, Kendra was a director at Humana in Louisville. Her other positions have included serving as president of Risk Management Resources in Irvine, California, and as director at Optum in Santa Ana, California. Kendra is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Stephanie Latham
SPECIALIZES IN LITIGATION SUPPORT SERVICES and Project Management
Stephanie Latham specializes in litigation support services. She has been the project director for over 30 disputes between hospitals and out-of-network health plans, involving cases with damages ranging from $1 million to over $150 million. Stephanie also specializes in patient flow solutions and other process improvements for health systems and medical groups. Prior to joining HealthWorks, she worked for over 10 years at Stockamp, a Huron Consulting Group Practice. After leading large revenue cycle engagements, Stephanie helped pioneer the firm’s inpatient flow solution, focusing on increasing inpatient capacity by improving efficiencies. Stephanie holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education from Vanderbilt University.
Kelley Sewell
SPECIALIZES IN LITIGATION SUPPORT And Healthcare Contracting
Kelley Sewell provides consulting expert services, with a focus on hospital/health plan contracting, for HealthWorks. Kelley is a health care leader with 25 years of experience in managed care contracting working for both health plans and providers. Before joining HealthWorks, she served as the regional director of member services and provider relations for Partnership HealthPlan of California. Her other positions have included serving as director of managed care services for NorthBay Healthcare in Fairfield, California, and as director of contracting and provider development for Key Health Plan in Visalia, California.
Marianne Vicencio
SPECIALIZES IN HEALTHCARE QUALITY PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT
Marianne Vicencio specializes in transforming healthcare quality through Performance Improvement. In her over 20 years of hospital and consulting experience, Marianne has bridged the gap between strategic planning and clinical performance improvement. She has focused on transforming healthcare quality into an enterprise-wide function that includes Quality Analytics, Performance Improvement, Patient Experience and Strategic Planning. She is a certified professional in healthcare quality (CPHQ). Marianne holds a Bachelor's of Arts in Business Administration / Management Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
